Blog Tour: Emancipating Andie by Priscilla Glenn

Ever since the one time Andie Weber threw caution to the wind - and paid the price for it - she’s learned that it’s safer and smarter to live life playing by the rules. Now she’s got a great apartment, a steady job, and a wonderful boyfriend in Colin; he’s sweet, stable, and essentially perfect – except maybe for the fact that his best friend is Chase.
Chase McGuire lives his carefree, unstructured life strictly for himself. Dripping sarcasm and oozing wit, he refuses to censor his feelings or opinions for anyone, making no apologies for either and wearing his abrasiveness like a badge of honour. No one has ever gotten under Andie’s skin the way Chase does – and vice versa.
So when Andie and Chase find themselves forced to take a two-day road trip together, they are already dreading an inevitable all-out war. But as the trip progresses, and the undeniable friction that has always defined their relationship slowly begins to wear away their preconceived notions of each other, Andie and Chase discover they both have a lot to learn about life, courage, happiness, and the age-old battle between logic and love.

I loved Back to You so I was glad to get the chance to read Priscilla's newest book!

What I Loved:
Chase- I really liked Chase! I liked how when he was introduced he seemed like a completely one dimensional arrogant guy but as the story progress he revealed all these different layers to his character. Chase really challenged Andie and brought out the real her buried under layers of rules, he couldn't resist winding her up! I loved his passion for photography, how he approached it and only lived on what he earned from selling his photos- perfect philosophy. I would have loved to see he interact with his Dad just to see the dynamic now but I admired how he's forced himself on his own path,
Plot- I liked how the flashback prologue really laid the foundations of the whole story. I loved the road trip element at the beginning, I always love road trips and this road trip really explored Andie's and Chase's personalities. I liked how the story covered the whole of the relationship and didn't end after they got together!
Andie- I found that Andie was a character who grew on me! She was so uptight but as she relaxed and more of her background was revealed I really started to warm up to her. I loved her secret writing and how it connected with her personality so much more than her actual job!

Ending- Without spoiling anything I loved how the ending flashed forward just enough to show how the events of the book had changed Chase and Andie's outlook and approaches to life. It also wrapped up loose ends and gave closure to all the characters.

What I Didn't Love as Much:

Premise- I didn't initially like the idea of Andie going with Chase and occasionally it bugged me. It was however well written and made sense to the characters.

I really enjoyed Emancipating Andie, I loved the use of flashbacks and the backstory to the main characters!

Emancipating Andie is currently on offer for 99c/77p to celebrate the Bank Holiday Weekend!

I think I'm officially a Priscilla Glee fan!
Much Love!

Back To You by Priscilla Glenn

When Lauren Monroe first laid eyes on Michael Delaney back in high school, she had every reason to stay away from him; within minutes of their first encounter, his volatile actions confirmed his notorious reputation. But Lauren saw something in him that caused her to question his bad-boy persona, and against her better judgement, she took a chance. She had no way of knowing that the unlikely friendship they formed would become so important to her.
Or that it would end so painfully.
Eight years later, when Lauren begins her new job at Learn and Grow Day Care, Michael is the last person she expects to see. Refusing to revisit the hurt and confusion of their past, Lauren vows to keep her distance from him. But staying away from Michael proves to be more difficult than she thought, despite her lingering grief and her instincts for self-preservation.
As Lauren and Michael recall the friendship that changed them forever and the events that tore them apart, will they finally be able to heal? Or will the ghosts of Michael’s past prove to be too much to overcome?

I'll admit I was hesitant to join this tour but I was pleasantly surprised!

What I loved:
  • Michael- I loved his layered backstory and how much he'd struggle to overcome it. Without spoiling it too much, Michael had been dealt a harsh life with blow after blow being thrown at him at an impressionable age. I think the way Lauren looked past the reputation and grew to know the 'real' Michael was the catalyst for Michael's change. I even understood why he left Lauren behind.
  • Flashbacks- I am a huge fan of a flashbacks and Back to You utilises them perfectly! They were appropriate and well placed allowing the book to seamlessly flow from past to present! I enjoyed seeing to two different portrayals of Lauren and Michael.
  • Plot- Initially I was a bit suspicious of the whole reunited lovers thread as I've read a couple of bad versions but Back to You restored my faith! I liked how the absence had both changed the characters yet they had retained some much of their connection to each other. Another good point was the cause of the break up which was linked to Michael's past not their actions- it annoys me how so many 'reunited' couples brush over the issues and actions of their breakups!
What I didn't love as much:
  • Jen- I wanted to see more of her, she seemed potentially a fabulous character and had a brilliant insight in to Lauren's past.
  • Pace- At times it felt like it moved a bit to quickly- especially as it had the dates as chapter headings so it made the time frame obvious. For example the intense bond between Erin and Lauren was very intense for the time frame and the fact Lauren was responsible for a group of children.

I loved the plot style and the way it was written! I loved the characters and
