Thomas and January by Fisher Amelie

Thomas Eriksson thinks he has it all figured out.

"People crossed the street when they saw me. I’m not really sure why that was. I mean, okay, I might have looked a bit intimidating if I was being truthful with you. I’d changed since New York. New York represented a life that wasn’t real, not truthfully, anyway. No, New York was the “young, immature, in love, idiot" side of Tom. The “Tie-Dye Tom of New York City” didn’t exist anymore. Tie-Dye Tom was dead."
January Mac Lochlainn thinks she’s her own worst enemy.
"I quit Berkeley. Threw away a full scholarship. Plans, you ask? What plans?"
But they’re both wrong.
***
Tom approached me slowly and met me under the light on the stone walkway. He leaned over me so closely, my neck craned to see his face. His expression was one of confusion as he studied my own.
“What is it about you?” he asked me.
I gulped. “What do you mean?” I whispered, closing my eyes and swallowing again, my breaths becoming laboured.
He lifted his hand and dragged the backs of his fingers across my jaw so lightly I barely felt them, but they made me feel dizzy all the same.
“How can you be this extraordinary, January MacLochlainn?” He leaned closer, a look of pure frustration and anger lit his eyes and pressed his lips. “And why couldn’t I have met you before I realised I didn’t want anyone...ever?”
Life for Thomas and January will never be the same again...whether they like it or not.

Beautiful cover, beautiful book! I did get a little confused as I haven't read Callum and Harper but it was still a great read!

What I loved:
  • Thomas- If I had been a good reader and book blogger I would have read Callum and Harper first and known Thomas' back story.... It was explained well but the changes in his personality would have been more meaningful! I appreciated his self deprecation, he obviously couldn't see what everyone else did!
  • January- I loved how spunky she was! She was devoted to her dreams and made a successful career out of it!
  • January's family- Children named for the months? Brilliant idea. Protesting over dramatic lawyer parents? So fun! Grandma Betty was a great character who welcomed January's future plan with open arms- perfect grandma!
  • Ending- Loved the ending! It resolved Thomas and January, everyone was happy and it felt like it showed a bit of Callum and Harper too!
  • Music and Plot- I loved how music was interwoven with the plot. I actually felt like I would of listened to a playlist and enjoyed it with this book- it was such a part of the story and the journey.
What I didn't love as much:
  • Jonah- So sneaky and underhanded! If you aren't good at scouting music than don't be a scout!
  • Length- I would have loved to read more about January's family, the music business or all of it! I just wanted it to be longer!

Once I finish up all my current reads I will be buying Callum and Harper asap- Thomas and January was such a quick good read with very few faults!

Have you read Callum and Harper? Did I make a book blogger error in not reading it first?
Much Love!

Top Ten Tuesday- Series I Haven't Finished

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by: The Broke and the Bookish.
This week's topic is Top Ten Series I Haven't Finished.

I'm back from holiday and already posted a cover reveal for Just For Now!
This theme is brilliant as I'm currently failing my Finishing the Series Reading Challenge 2012 so this will remind me what series I need to bump up my TBR list.

The ones I just need to pick up!
Books of Bayern
I loved Goose Girl and Enna Burning so I pounced on River Secrets! I just haven't got around to reading Forest Born even though it sat on my Uni book shelf for ages!
Tales of the Otori
I love the original trilogy (the middle three) but the other two I  keep bumping down the TBR list for no real reason.

Looking Glass Wars
I read the Looking Glass Wars in hardback ages ago but by the time Seeing Redd came out I just didn't pick it up. I reread Looking Glass Wars on holiday and promptly borrowed the next two from my friend!

The ones that I started at the wrong time!

Inheritance Cycle
I read and loved Eragon but with Univerity and work I just didn't have the time to devote to reading such a long series! I now feel like I need to reread Eragon before finishing the series but I do have the first three ready so no excuses!

The Books of Pellinor
Loved The Gift but I just didn't have time for the whole series- will be picking it up soon!

Inkheart Trilogy
Same story different trilogy! Loved the first book but no time for series! Once again it's a case of needing to reread Inkheart and get back in to the series.

The ones I feel are finished
The Shopaholic Series
I have loved the Shopaholic series and Sophie Kinsella so much for so long. I haven't read Mini Shopaholic because I kinda feel I'm done with Becky- Shopaholic and Baby was a happy realistic end!

Sisterhood of The Travelling Pants
I loved these when they first came out! I only recently realised there was a fifth one. I've heard it's bittersweet so I'm debating whether or not I should read it or leave it- I felt Forever in Blue ended almost perfectly!

Not quite ten but I limited it to series I genuinely want to finish or loved!
I think my issue with not finishing series is I either  lose momentum  when I have to wait for instalments or I just don't have the time to read them back to back.

Hopefully I will be able to finish at least two of those for my Challenge!
Let me know if you have any series you need to finish or if you have any opinions on the ones I need to finish!

Much Love!

Monday Round Up!

One of my favourite memes hosted by the lovely Shelia over at Book Journey!

This is my first non wrap up Monday post all month! Not as much reading last week but my week was eventful!
I got stuck at the train station for two hours until my Grandpa graciously came to my rescue- we then took over an hour to drive a fifteen minute journey due to traffic! A nightmare made worse by the fact I had nothing to read as my phone (kindle app) had died on the train!
I went to see Wedding Video- funny film but I wasn't keen on the ending.

Other posts!
Discussion post- Stand Alones Vs Series- New kind of post which I finally got round to posting. Go check it out and let me know your thoughts!
Top Ten Books I've read- This one is pretty interesting as it really made me think about the books I've read during this blog and which ones will stand the test of time.

Read!

I got so many comment on this beautiful cover last week- the book inside definitely lives up it! I probably should of read Callum and Harper first as I did get a little confused but I loved it all the same!

Reading

So far so good- this is the only dystopia book I picked up myself without hearing anything about it so I'm glad it's proving a good read!

To Be Read

I did start this one last week but I think it was a bit too heavy after my contemporary readathon so I'm hoping to pick it up again soon!

Upcoming Reviews

You may have noticed a lack of reviews- I have been invited on a last minute long holiday in September so I am stockpiling reviews so this blog can be updated regularly while I'm gone!
I will post at least one review this week tho.

Upcoming Posts

Goodreads- I've been trying to get more involved in the social side of blogging so I might do a post on that!
I've also been thinking about doing a post clarifying my position on reviews and books in general- maybe a what I do if I don't like a book/why my reviews always seem positive?

Any opinions/feedback on my upcoming posts is always welcomed- how else will I know what people want to see!
Let me know what you've been up to blog or life wise!

Much Love
