November Round Up!

Monthly Feature- rounds up all the books I've read, progress on challenges and reviews my blogging!
It is kind of an expansion (?) of my favourite memes hosted by the lovely Shelia over at Book Journey!

Well I spent the majority of November without my laptop! How does one blog effectively without a home computer? The answer is it isn't possible! I spent a lot of time making use of the library but I'm really disappointed that Dell took so long to fix it!

November in numbers!
Total posts= 15
Books read= 5
Reviews Posted= 6
Meme Posts= 3
Promo Posts= 3
Other Posts= 2

What I read in November!

I've got a full time Christmas temp job and my best friend is back from Australia so I've been distracted!

What I Reviewed!
Swell by Julie Rieman Duck. Blog Tour!
Loving Summer by Kailin Gow. Blog Tour

The Secret of Ella and Micha by Jessica Sorensen. Blog Tour!
Shallow by Georgia Cates. Blog Tour!
Crash by Nicole Williams.

Not too bad on the reviewing front not as great as I'd hoped though!

What I Posted!
Lettie Loves!- A post judging some recent Contemporary covers!
Top Ten Tuesday!- Top Ten Contemporary reads of 2012!
Fab Five Friday!- Highlighting some older contemporary reads!
Blog Tours
6 Seconds of Life - Character analysis post!
Cover Reveal

Did I achieve my goals?
To successfully host my feature month!-
Thanks to my Laptop fail I didn't really achieve this one! I did keep my blog tour schedule on the whole but my feature posts suffered as they weren't prewritten.
To make progress on my challenges!-
I count Roar and Liv but it was technically a novella... Again poor progress!
To update my blog pages!-
Success! I updated my Ratings page so it's more accessible and clear! As well as updating my Challenge and Books page.

What I hope to achieve in December!
  •  Challenges- One last push for 2012 challenges! I also want to sign up for a couple more for 2013 as I'll have a full year to complete them!
  • Reviews- I want to post at least 6 reviews. At least 4 independent of blog tours. I want reviews of books I personally picked up as well as blog tours promoting books I chose to review.
  • Posts- I want to do a couple of discussion and 'Lettie loves' posts just to mix up my blog content!

How was your November?
Excited for December and Christmas?
Much Love!

6 Seconds of Life Blog Tour!

Welcome to the 6 Seconds of Life Blog Tour!

Maura has just jumped.
Now she has precisely six seconds until she hits the water below her—just six more seconds until she is finally freed from her mundane and aimless existence. Freed of all of the regrets and disappointments that have haunted her throughout her nineteen years.
She just needs to be free.
But as she falls, the most pivotal points of her life start to replay like a movie in her head: her family falling apart, her first love, her first heartbreak, her first true friends, and her first betrayal. As she remembers these moments that brought her to this point, will she feel a sense of peace? Or will her death be her greatest regret?

Maura has six seconds to reflect on whom and what in her life lead her to jump, in those six second we get just a glimpse at the key points and characters in her life. I thought I would do a different kind of post on how I would categorise these characters!

Character whose viewpoint I would have love to see:
Owen- the boyfriend who tried his best. I would have loved to see his point of view to clarify a few things.

Character that frustrates me the most:
Maura's Mum- Guilty of giving her husband too much leeway and ignoring how down he was on Maura.

Character I felt sorry for:
Doyle- Typical frat boy who was in the wrong but had no idea.

Character I disliked the most:
Maura's Dad- selfish ex-sports star who couldn't see his own faults but keen to point out Maura's.

Character most responsible for alienating Maura:
Darby- the mean girl of Maura's life, responsible for alienating her in a number of ways!

This book was not my usual type of contemporary and left me with many questions but I found it intriguing and I couldn't put it down!

Have you read 6 Seconds of Life?
Much Love!

Well I had a technical fail week! My desktop now shuts itself down randomly and I had to send my laptop off for repair! Luckily I'd pre scheduled the majority of my posts but I'm behind on comments and posts are now backlogged... I declare November the month of Contemporary Young Adult and New Adult fiction on Above Average Below Special!

Why?

I've been on a slight contemporary book binge recently and I had a few contemporary blog tours scheduled for November so I thought why not devote a month  to contemporary reviews and features?

What will this month include?

6 Seconds of Life: Promo Blitz

Maura has just jumped.
Now she has precisely six seconds until she hits the water below her—just six more seconds until she is finally freed from her mundane and aimless existence. Freed of all of the regrets and disappointments that have haunted her throughout her nineteen years.
She just needs to be free.

As she remembers these moments that brought her to this point, will she feel a sense of peace? Or will her death be her greatest regret?

6 Seconds of Life is a 'New Adult' book which will be touring this blog next month!
I think it sounds like an intriguing read in the same vein as Before I Fall by lauren Oliver and If I Stay by  Gayle Foreman!

Sneak Peek!
I think deep down, I’ve always known it was going to end this way. I was never
meant to live a long life. I accepted this fate a long time ago. I was just waiting for the
right moment.
I wanted to fall in love first.
I wanted to experience what it was like to have a real family first.
I wanted to know what it was like to be sincerely happy, even if it was short-lived.
I got all of those firsts.
And now I’m ready to move forward.
I inch my feet closer to the open sky. And closer. Until my naked toes are peeking
over the edge. The water cracks violently below me, begging for me to join in on all of
the fun.
Just a few more seconds before it’s all over.
Until I’m free.
I’m totally relaxed. This moment, it’s all mine. No one can take it away from me.
I close my eyes. The sounds of high heels clicking on the walkway and cameras
snapping and preserving memories and street musicians begging for spare change
surround me. I breathe in their music and let it be the soundtrack to the closing credits of
my life.
I raise my arms up to my side, reaching for the skies that surround me.
And I step into the air.
I’m flying now.

Will you be picking it up?
Let me know!
Much Love!
