A Risk Worth Taking by Heather Hildenbrand.

When 22-year-old Summer Stafford’s parents split halfway through her senior year at college, Summer’s world is rocked. Everything she thought she knew—heck, everything she thought she wanted for her own life—feels like a lie. The truth is love is a risk. And the true kind, the kind that lasts, might even be a fairy tale.
Reeling from the divorce, Summer derails her own future by breaking up with her parent-approved boyfriend and giving up her lifelong plans for a big-city career. She moves back home, business degree in hand. Dad needs her to fill the gaps her mother left behind; Summer needs to find who she is outside of the cookie-cutter life that failed so miserably for her parents.
Ford O’Neal’s future involves one person: himself. He doesn’t have a permanent address and he definitely doesn’t commit. To a place or a person. Raised by hippies, he plans just far enough ahead to secure his next stop, this one landing him at a work-study program at Heritage Plantation where he can grow his own herbal and medicinal creations.
Summer is gorgeous and smart and fun to be with, the perfect way to pass five months. It won’t be love—Ford’s got too many things to accomplish, too many places to go, before he settles down. Yet Summer pulls him in, challenging him to rethink his own philosophy.
When Ford’s five months are up, each of them must decide if love is really worth the risk.

Thoughts
I loved the sound of A Risk Worth Taking but I wasn't too sure it would live up to my expectations but it did!
I really enjoyed the rural setting, I'd been looking for more rural setting since Lost and Found. I loved the isolated small town community, it made for great relationships and familiar routines for the plot development. I liked the farm work community with all the different roles and how well Summer took on her mother's role and slotted in!
Summer was a lot different than I was expecting. I liked that she took her parent's divorce as an opportunity to re-evaluate her own life goals and agenda. It wasn't the most healthy reaction to her parent's divorce but it did take her completely by surprise. As I mentioned I loved her relationship with Casey and with all the other guys on the farm, she slotted back in perfectly. I liked that she wasn't afraid to throw herself back in to farm life and embraced all the dirt etc. I liked her relationship with Ford and how he encouraged her to think and live without her rules and regulations.
Ford was another great character. I liked his outlook on life and his demeanour, he was very free spirited, however I think as he encouraged Summer to take a different outlook, he slowly realised his viewpoint was just as rigid as Summer's. Ford was very perceptive of Summer especially with regards to her initial rejection of his thoughts and outlook, he just kept offering her an alternative viewpoint.
All the side characters were well fleshed out and developed. I absolutely loved Casey, he was such a fun well meaning guy. I liked that he treated Summer like an adult and wasn't overbearing, he knew to just treat her normally and let her figure everything out. I hope to find out more about him like his backstory in a future book!

Rating!
All in all a great New Adult read with well fleshed characters, a plot in which all the characters developed and grew and realistic issues.

Looking forward to more from Heather!
Much Love!

The Only One by Magan Vernon.

Honor student, manager at the campus coffee shop, owner of an impressive sweater collection – Melanie Wilder has it all together. Then John “John Boy” Walden strolls into her life wearing nothing more than an impish grin and all-too-revealing loin cloth.
Soon, make-out sessions replace homework, lust triumphs over work. And to further crumble her perfect world, an unexpected phone call threatens to take away everything she’s worked for.
Now, as Melanie struggles to pick up the pieces, she realizes that John may be the only one to put her life back together…unless he shatters it first.

Thoughts
The Only One completely took me by surprise. I liked Melanie and John Boy in The Only Exception so I was intrigued to see how they would go together but I wasn't prepared for such a deep and complex plot! I really enjoyed how the plot developed slowly and allowed the characters to evolve accordingly. Melanie started out as an intense character who needed to break out of her shell and grew into someone capable of accepting help and letting go. I loved John Boy in The Only Exception but he really impressed me in The Only One. I liked how he was prepared to be exactly what Melanie needed and was so supportive. His character was I loved the side cast. Melanie's family were lovely. Valerie, her sister, was perfect for when Melanie needed someone to straight with her and when she needed someone to look after her. Monica and Trey made a brilliant cameo as supportive friends and advisors. As always I loved the small college setting!

Rating!
I absolutely loved the plot twists and depths and the characters!

NetGalley November

What is NetGalley November?
The idea is to read as many NetGalley books that month as possible. I, personally, will only be reading NetGalley books but you may feel it better to just read more NetGalley books than you normally read in a month. It’s completely up to you! Hosted by Bookish Treasures, K.Books and A Daydreamer's Thoughts.

Anyone with a NetGalley account knows how easy it is to end up with a pile of books on your dashboard!
Which is why I've signed up to NetGalley November. I currently have a feedback rating of 77.8% but I have a list of books to read/review so I'm going to get stuck in!

Goals!
  • Medium- 5-10 books. At the moment I have 10 books to read so I'm hoping to read them all!
  • Try to write up reviews for at least half of the books I manage to read!
  • Hopefully participate in a Twitter chat.

The 12 NAs of Christmas Release Day!

I am so excited for the these 12 novellas. One because they are by best selling authors and two because they are Christmas themed! I've just finished Christmas Catch and the teaser below has get me adding Frosted Midnight to my TBR!

Willow needs a miracle...
Twenty-year-old Willow is a librarian in the tourist town of Bandon, Oregon. During the summer the town is bursting with interesting people from all over the world.
Two summers ago she met Austin. He was everything she ever wanted in a man: smart, funny, and gorgeous. But after eight perfect weeks he left, and she hasn't heard from him since.
Until Christmas Eve. She receives an email from Austin asking her to meet him at midnight so he can explain.
It might be a booty call, but Willow has to see him one last time, even if it's just to say good-bye
.

Teaser!
I was nineteen when I fell in love. It was that once in a lifetime kind of love, the kind of love that hit hard and didn’t let go, the kind where all I could do was think about him. Only him. Always him.
The shine in his hazel eyes and the way the corners of his eyes would crinkle when he smiled. Or the way his dark hair fell into his face when he leaned down to kiss me.
His name was Austin Merrick. He wasn’t a boy from my quaint tourist town of Bandon, Oregon. He was a man: tall, muscled. He wore cowboy boots, jeans that sat low on his tapered hips, t-shirts, and a cowboy hat that looked older than him. He had a square jaw, straight white teeth, and a mouth that could do things to my lips and my body…
He was my first time, my every time. From the moment I met him I knew I’d never have to look at another man again.
I still didn’t know why he came to Bandon, but from the moment he walked into the library where I worked, came over to my desk, and asked for my opinion on a good book, I was a goner. Yes, it was love at first sight. And I didn’t regret it.
He was in my life for eight weeks, eight flawless weeks. And then he left. Without a good-bye. Just rolled over, kissed me tenderly, walked out of my bedroom, and never came back.
My heart broke that day, splintered into a million pieces.
